About TaskPly
TaskPly is an online marketplace in Sri Lanka that connects customers with independent service providers, called Taskers. TaskPly is not a party to the agreement between a customer and a Tasker, and does not employ Taskers. Contact us at contact@taskply.com for support, complaints, privacy requests or appeals. TaskPly is currently run by an individual in Sri Lanka. If TaskPly moves to a company in future, we will tell you first; these terms and your rights will carry over, and that company will then be responsible for the service and your data.
Laws and electronic agreement
These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, including, as they apply, the Consumer Affairs Authority Act, No. 9 of 2003, the Electronic Transactions Act, No. 19 of 2006 (as amended) and the Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022 (as amended by Act No. 22 of 2025). Accepting these terms in the app or on the website is an electronic agreement. Nothing in these terms removes rights the law gives you that cannot be excluded.
Who can use TaskPly
You must be 18 or older and able to enter a binding agreement. Use your own Sri Lankan mobile number, give true information and keep it up to date. One person may hold one account. Do not pretend to be someone else, use forged documents, or share or transfer your account.
Account safety and behaviour
Keep your phone and one-time codes private. TaskPly staff will never ask for a login code. Do not harass or threaten anyone, use bad language, discriminate unlawfully, post illegal or unsafe work, create false tasks or reviews, or try to get around the app’s security. Do not post identity documents, bank details or private addresses in public task descriptions. The Community guidelines and the Fake accounts and fraud policy give more detail.
Booking confirmation
An offer alone is not a booking. A booking is confirmed only when the customer accepts an offer and the app shows the task as assigned. The task description, accepted offer and messages in the app set out the work, place, time and price. Agree any change in the task chat before the extra work starts. See the Booking and cancellation rules.
Registration and approval
Before you can make offers, submit your full legal name, date of birth, address, NIC details, service categories, experience and qualifications, with a clear NIC image, a selfie, address proof and any licence your work needs. TaskPly staff review these by hand. Only staff approval lets you make offers. Missing, unclear, expired or false documents may lead to a request for corrections, rejection or restrictions. Changing approved details may need a new review.
Qualifications and licences
Accept only work you are competent and legally allowed to do. Keep licences, registrations, permits and any insurance current. Uploading a certificate does not replace a licence the law requires. Tell TaskPly if a qualification is withdrawn or a licence expires. Do not overstate your experience, use someone else’s account, or pass the work to another person without the customer’s agreement.
Doing the work
Arrive as agreed, tell the customer about delays, protect property, use suitable tools and PPE, and work with reasonable care. Stop and talk to the customer if conditions become unsafe or the work changes. Use customer contact and location details only for that job. See the Health and safety policy.
Your earnings and tax
Your offer must state the full price, including materials and expenses. You keep the cash the customer pays you and owe TaskPly the commission below. You are responsible for your own business records, tax and licences. TaskPly does not guarantee any amount of work or income.
How payment works
TaskPly currently works on cash only. The customer pays the accepted price directly to the Tasker in cash when the work is done. TaskPly does not collect, hold or refund this cash, and the app does not take card or online payment from customers.
The 5% commission
After the customer confirms completion, the Tasker owes TaskPly 5% of the accepted price, rounded to the nearest rupee (a Rs. 10,000 job means Rs. 500). The customer does not pay this. It is due within 7 days of completion. The Tasker sees the balance under Account, then Commission and payments, pays using the details TaskPly sends, and emails the receipt to contact@taskply.com with the task name. Staff check the receipt and then record the payment. If you think a balance is wrong, email us with the task and any receipt: we reply within 5 working days, and staff review the amount before any commission hold. Cancelled bookings carry no commission. The full steps are below.
Cash payments
The customer pays the agreed price directly to the Tasker in cash when the work is done. TaskPly does not collect, hold or refund the customer’s cash.
Agreeing the price
The price is the accepted offer in the app. Any change should be agreed in the app before extra work starts.
Commission
After the customer confirms completion, the Tasker owes TaskPly 5% of the accepted price, rounded to the nearest rupee (Rs. 10,000 job = Rs. 500 commission). Cancelled bookings have no commission.
Paying commission
Commission is due within 7 days of completion. 1. Check the balance under Account, then Commission and payments. 2. Pay using the payment details TaskPly sends you. 3. Email the receipt to contact@taskply.com with the task name. 4. Staff check the receipt and record the payment, and your balance then updates. Recording it does not move any money.
Late commission
If commission stays unpaid, staff send a reminder by SMS. If it still stays unpaid after the reminder, staff may place a commission hold. During a commission hold you cannot view tasks or make offers. Once all commission is recorded as received, the hold lifts automatically. A commission hold is separate from any other account restriction, which has its own review.
If a balance looks wrong
Email contact@taskply.com with the task name and any receipt. We reply within 5 working days. Staff review the amount you question before any commission hold is placed for it.
Cancellation
A customer can cancel a task in the app until an offer is accepted, and a Tasker can withdraw an offer until it is accepted. After acceptance, tell the other person as soon as you can and open a dispute or contact support so staff can cancel the booking. TaskPly charges no cancellation fee and no commission on cancelled bookings. Any charge between you, such as a call-out charge, must have been agreed in the chat first. See the Booking and cancellation rules.
Disputes
Open a dispute from the task page or email contact@taskply.com. While a dispute is open, the task cannot be marked complete, so no commission becomes due on it. Staff may ask both sides for information and normally reply within 2 working days, aiming to decide within 7 working days after receiving what they need. Staff may resume the task or cancel the booking. TaskPly does not hold the cash, so any return of cash is arranged between the customer and the Tasker, with our help. You can ask for a review within 14 days. You can also go to the courts, the Consumer Affairs Authority or another authority at any time. See the Dispute resolution policy.
Hold, suspension and blocking
Staff may restrict an account for credible complaints, safety, fraud, a compromised account, false documents, unpaid commission or other serious breaches. Hold: you can still sign in and read your conversations, but cannot take on new work. Commission hold: a hold only for unpaid commission after a reminder; you cannot view tasks or make offers until all commission is recorded as received, and it then lifts automatically. Suspension: you cannot sign in for a period. Blocking by TaskPly: you cannot sign in until an authorised review restores the account. This is different from one member blocking another. Staff record a reason and, where safe and lawful, give you notice and a chance to respond. To appeal, email contact@taskply.com.
Privacy and your documents
We use your details to run the service, verify Taskers, resolve complaints, secure accounts and meet legal duties. NIC numbers and verification documents are encrypted when stored, only authorised staff can open them, and each view is recorded. Selfies are checked by staff; we do not use automated face recognition. Task chat messages are stored with the booking and authorised staff may read them for safety, support, disputes and fraud prevention; each view is recorded. We also keep records of the commission you owe and pay and the receipts you send. The Privacy policy lists our service providers, where data is stored, how long we keep it and your rights.
Ratings and reviews
After a task is completed, the customer and the Tasker can each leave one rating and review. Reviews must be true and about the task. Do not offer or demand anything for a review, or use one to threaten anyone. See the Ratings and reviews policy.
What the verified badge means
A verified badge means staff reviewed the identity and trade documents submitted. It does not guarantee that a document is genuine, that a licence is still current, that the work will be satisfactory, that the person has passed criminal checks, or that they are insured. Customers should check the licence and insurance the job needs. Staff may ask for new documents, remove verification or hide the badge while an account is restricted.
Responsibility and your rights
Customers and Taskers are responsible for their own conduct, what they agree and the lawful use of the service. Whether work counts as employment depends on the law and the facts; calling a Tasker independent does not remove legal protections. To the extent the law allows, TaskPly is not liable for losses arising from a task, but nothing excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. TaskPly does not promise uninterrupted service or guaranteed earnings.
Your responsibility for the work
You do the work as an independent Tasker, using your own judgement, tools and helpers. You are responsible to the customer and to others for your work, for any loss, damage or injury it causes, and for any insurance it needs. TaskPly does not sell or include insurance. Do not move a job found on TaskPly outside the app to avoid commission.
Limits on TaskPly’s responsibility
TaskPly provides the platform only. We do not do, supervise or inspect the work, and we do not guarantee that a member, task, document, answer from the AI assistant or other content is accurate, lawful, safe or suitable. You decide who to deal with, at your own risk, after making your own checks. As far as the law allows, TaskPly is not responsible for loss, damage or injury caused by another member or by a task, for indirect or consequential loss such as lost earnings or profit, for interruptions to the service, or for events outside our reasonable control. As far as the law allows, our total liability to you for any one event is limited to Rs. 10,000. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or any other liability or consumer right that the law, including the Unfair Contract Terms Act, No. 26 of 1997, does not allow us to exclude.
Claims caused by you
As far as the law allows, you agree to cover the reasonable losses, claims and legal costs TaskPly has to meet because you broke these terms or the law, because of false information or content you gave, or because of your task or work. This does not apply to the extent the loss was caused by TaskPly’s own negligence or breach of contract.
Your content, our service and our records
You keep ownership of what you add, and you confirm you have the right to add it. You allow TaskPly to store, display and use it as needed to run and protect the service. We may remove content or refuse a task that appears to break these terms or the law. We may change, pause or stop a feature, and will give notice of a major change where we reasonably can. Do not copy or scrape the service, test or break its security, or use automated tools on it. We may keep records and share them with the police, courts or regulators where the law requires it, or where reasonably needed to protect people’s safety or to bring or defend legal claims.
Complaints, courts and language
Please contact us first and use the dispute process, so we can try to sort out the problem. This does not stop you going to the Consumer Affairs Authority, the Data Protection Authority or a court. The courts of Sri Lanka decide any legal claim. If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If a translation differs from the English version, the English version applies, as far as the law allows.
Closing your account
You can delete your account in the app under Account, then Delete my account, or at taskply.com/en/delete-account. Booked work, open disputes and unpaid commission must be dealt with first. Deleting does not cancel a valid complaint or legal duty, and restrictions will not be used to stop anyone making a complaint. See the Privacy policy.
Effective date, versions and related policies
The version number at the top of these terms is the date they take effect. When you accept, we record your account, the version, the time and a fingerprint of the text you saw, and we keep earlier versions. Whenever these terms or policies change, we ask you to read and accept the new version when you next open the app, and you cannot keep using your account until you do. If you do not agree, you can delete your account. A change will not take away rights you have already gained under the law. These terms work together with the Privacy, Booking and cancellation, Dispute resolution, Ratings and reviews, Fake accounts and fraud, Community, Health and safety, and Delivery and transport policies, all listed under Policies and agreements. Accepting means you agree to these terms and those policies, and we email you a PDF copy at the address you gave us.
Terms and conditions
About TaskPly
TaskPly is an online marketplace in Sri Lanka that connects customers who need tasks done with independent Taskers. TaskPly is not a party to the agreement between a customer and a Tasker and does not employ Taskers.
Who can use TaskPly
You must be 18 or older, able to enter a binding agreement, and use your own Sri Lankan mobile number. Give true information and keep it up to date. One person may hold one account.
Your account
You sign in with a one-time SMS code. Keep your phone and codes private. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
Using the marketplace
Customers post tasks and choose offers. Only Taskers verified by TaskPly staff can make offers. Agree the work, price and timing in the app before work starts. Questions on a task close when it is completed.
Payments
Customers pay the agreed price directly to the Tasker in cash.
Content and conduct
Do not post anything unlawful, false, offensive or unsafe, or share another person’s private information. Follow the Community guidelines. We may remove content and limit, hold or close accounts that break these rules.
Liability
Taskers are responsible for their work and for holding any licence or registration it needs. To the extent the law allows, TaskPly is not liable for losses arising from a task, but nothing limits rights you have under Sri Lankan consumer law. The Limits on TaskPly’s responsibility section of the Customer and Tasker Terms gives the full position.
Changes and contact
Whenever these terms or policies change, we ask you to read and accept the new version when you next open the app, and you cannot keep using your account until you do. If you do not agree, you can delete your account. These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. Contact: contact@taskply.com.
Privacy policy
Who we are
TaskPly (contact@taskply.com) decides how your personal data is used for the TaskPly app and website, in line with Sri Lanka’s Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022, as amended by Act No. 22 of 2025, as it applies. TaskPly is currently run by an individual in Sri Lanka. If it moves to a company, we will tell you first, and that company will then be responsible for your data. The main duties in the Act on how personal data is handled start on 1 January 2027 (Gazette Extraordinary No. 2498/16 of 22 July 2026). The Data Protection Authority’s Personal Data Protection Circular No. 01/2026 of August 2026 explains how the Act applies in the public sector. TaskPly is not a public body, so the circular is not addressed to us, but we use it as a guide.
What we collect from everyone
Name, date of birth, address, NIC or ID number, mobile number, email (if given), district and town, language, the tasks, offers, questions, messages, photos and voice notes you add, ratings and reviews, notification settings, device push tokens and basic security logs.
Extra information from Taskers
For verification: NIC number, NIC front and back images, selfie, address proof, work experience, service categories and, for professional categories, registration or licence details. NIC and ID numbers and documents are encrypted when stored. Only authorised staff can open them, and each view is recorded. Staff review them by hand; we do not use automated face recognition. After staff review and accept your documents, they can permanently delete the images from our system, to protect your privacy and lower the risk of a data breach. We keep a record that the documents were checked, by whom and when. Deleted images may stay in encrypted backups for up to 14 days. If your details need checking again later, we may ask you to upload them again.
How we protect sensitive details
Your name, NIC or ID number, date of birth and address are encrypted when saved on our servers. They cannot be read from the database or its backups without our encryption key, which is kept apart from the database. They are decrypted only when needed to run the service, for example to show your name to people you deal with. Your phone number and email address are not encrypted, because we use them to sign you in and contact you. Encryption lowers the risk, but no system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Why we use it
To run accounts and sign-in, match tasks with Taskers (by interests and district), verify Taskers, keep the marketplace safe, handle support and disputes, send notifications and SMS, and meet legal duties.
Legal basis
We use your data because it is needed for our agreement with you (accounts, tasks, offers, messages, support and agreement copies); to meet legal duties (accounting records and lawful requests); for our legitimate interests in keeping TaskPly safe and preventing fraud and misuse, which you can object to; and with your consent for optional things such as phone location, camera, photos, microphone and notifications, which you can turn off at any time.
What you must give us
Your name, mobile number, email, date of birth, address and NIC or ID number are needed to make the agreement with you, so we cannot open an account without them. Taskers must also give the verification details above, or they cannot be approved to make offers. Other things, such as photos, voice notes and location, are your choice, and you can use the rest of the app without them.
Automated decisions
We do not make decisions with a legal or similarly serious effect on you by automated means alone. The app uses your interests and district to choose which task alerts to send you, and the AI assistant answers support questions, but staff decide Tasker approval, account holds, suspensions and disputes. You can ask for a person in the support chat.
Who can see it
Other users see your public profile, ratings and the tasks you post. Exact contact and location details are shared only as needed for a booked task. Our service providers process data only for TaskPly: a cloud hosting provider, Notify.lk (SMS), Google Firebase (push notifications), Google Gemini (support assistant) and Zoho (business email). We never sell your data. We may share information with the police, courts, regulators or our legal advisers where the law requires it, or where reasonably needed to protect people’s safety or to bring or defend legal claims. A member who receives your details for a booking is responsible for how they use them.
Support chat
Messages you send to the support chat are processed by an AI assistant (Google Gemini) to answer you and are kept with your support history. Do not share one-time codes, passwords or NIC numbers in chat.
How long we keep it
Account details and verification documents: while your account is active, and deleted when the account is deleted. Tasks, messages, payment and audit records: kept for accounting, disputes, fraud prevention and legal duties for up to 7 years, without your personal details once your account is deleted. Support chats are deleted with your account. Accounts not used for 24 months are closed after notice, and old records are deleted automatically when the 7 years end. Database backups are encrypted and replaced within 14 days, so deleted data can remain in them until then. Verification images can be deleted earlier, after staff review and accept them.
Website visits
When you visit taskply.com, we count the pages viewed, the website you came from, your type of device and browser, and your approximate town and country. A location service outside Sri Lanka (ipapi.co or ipwho.is) works out the place from your internet address, and we do not store that address. We use no tracking cookies for this. The visitor code we keep changes every day and is not used to identify you. We do this for our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the website, and we delete these records after 13 months. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we do not count your visit.
Location, camera, microphone and photos
The app uses your location only when you choose to pin where a task is, and never in the background. The camera and photos are used only when you add photos to a task or upload verification documents. The microphone is used only when you record a voice note. You can refuse these permissions and still use the rest of the app.
Payments
Customers pay Taskers in cash, so the app does not collect card or bank details from customers. We keep a record of each job price.
Where your data is stored
Our servers are hosted by a cloud hosting provider in Singapore, so your data is stored and processed outside Sri Lanka. Some service providers may also process data in other countries. Data is sent over encrypted connections, and we use providers only for the purposes in this policy.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app under Account, then Delete my account, or at taskply.com/en/delete-account. This deletes your name, date of birth, address, NIC or ID number, phone number, email, profile, Tasker verification documents, work preferences, support chats and notifications. Past tasks, payment and audit records needed for accounting, disputes, fraud prevention and legal duties are kept without those personal details.
Under-18s
TaskPly is only for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, please tell us at contact@taskply.com and we will remove it.
Data breach notification: What a data breach is
A data breach is when personal data is lost, seen, changed or shared without permission, for example through a hacked account or a mistake by staff or a service provider.
Data breach notification: What we do
We act at once to stop it, find out what happened and which data and people are affected, fix the cause and keep a record.
Data breach notification: Who we tell
We notify the Data Protection Authority of Sri Lanka as the Personal Data Protection Act requires. If the breach is likely to put you at real risk, we also tell you without undue delay by SMS, email or in the app.
Data breach notification: What we tell you
What happened, what data was involved, what we are doing, what you can do to protect yourself, and how to contact us.
Data breach notification: What you can do
Never share one-time codes, and tell us at once at contact@taskply.com if you think your account or data has been misused. You can also complain to the Data Protection Authority.
Inactive accounts and deletion: Inactive accounts
If you have not signed in for 24 months, we may close your account. We will send a notice by SMS at least 30 days before. Signing in during that time keeps your account open.
Inactive accounts and deletion: Deleting your account yourself
In the app, go to Account, then Delete my account. On the web, use taskply.com/en/delete-account. If you cannot sign in, email contact@taskply.com from your registered email or give your registered mobile number, and we will reply within 30 days.
Inactive accounts and deletion: What is deleted
Your name, date of birth, address, NIC or ID number, phone number, email, profile, Tasker verification documents, work preferences, support chats and notifications. Your open tasks are cancelled and pending offers are withdrawn.
Inactive accounts and deletion: What is kept
Past tasks, payment and audit records needed for accounting, disputes, fraud prevention and legal duties are kept for up to 7 years, without those personal details.
Inactive accounts and deletion: When an account cannot be closed yet
Booked work and open disputes must be dealt with first. We will tell you what is outstanding. Your right to complain is not affected.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete your data, withdraw consent for optional uses, or object to processing, by emailing contact@taskply.com. We normally reply within one month, and will tell you if we need longer or cannot agree and why. You can also complain to Sri Lanka’s Data Protection Authority. If we have a data breach affecting you, we follow the data breach steps in this policy. To ask for a copy of your own data, go to Help Centre, then Ask for a copy of my data, or email us. We check that it is you, and the copy contains only your own data. We reply in writing within one month, or up to three months if we tell you why before the month ends. We may refuse or limit a request only where the Act allows, for example to protect other people’s rights, for a legal inquiry or crime prevention, where the law requires us to keep the data, or where we cannot confirm who you are. Requests are free of charge unless the Authority’s rules allow a fee. If we refuse, we give our reasons unless the law prevents it, and tell you that you can appeal to the Data Protection Authority.
Booking and cancellation rules
When a booking is confirmed
Posting a task or sending an offer is not a booking. A booking is confirmed only when the customer accepts an offer and the app shows the task as assigned. The chat opens at that point, and other offers on the task can no longer be accepted.
What the booking includes
The task description, the accepted offer and the messages in the app set out the work, place, time and price. Decide before accepting whether the price includes materials and travel.
Changing a booking
Agree any change to the work, time or price in the task chat before it happens, so there is a record. Taskers must not ask for charges that were not agreed.
Completing a booking
When the work is done the customer checks it, pays the Tasker in cash and confirms completion in the app. If there is a problem, open a dispute instead of confirming.
Customer: before accepting an offer
You can cancel your task at any time in the app, free of charge. Any pending offers are closed and the Taskers are told.
Customer: after accepting an offer
Tell the Tasker as soon as you can, in the chat. Then open a dispute from the task page or contact support so staff can cancel the booking. Please do not leave a Tasker waiting at the job.
Tasker: before your offer is accepted
You can withdraw your offer in the app at any time, free of charge.
Tasker: after your offer is accepted
You have made a commitment to the customer. If you truly cannot do the work, tell the customer at once and contact support so staff can cancel the booking. Repeated late cancellations or not turning up may lead to account restrictions.
Charges and refunds
TaskPly charges no cancellation fee. Any charge between you, such as a call-out charge or materials already bought, must have been agreed in the chat first. TaskPly does not hold cash, so any return of cash is arranged between you, with our help. Your legal rights as a consumer still apply.
Dispute resolution policy
Talk first
Most problems can be solved by talking to the other person in the task chat. Keep messages in the app.
Open a dispute
If you cannot agree, open a dispute from the task page and explain what happened. Add photos or details that help.
What happens next
While a dispute is open, the task cannot be marked complete. Staff review the task, messages and evidence, may ask both sides for information, and record the decision and reason.
Possible outcomes
Staff may resume the task so it can be finished, or cancel the booking. They may also act on an account. TaskPly does not hold the cash and cannot refund it, so any return of cash is arranged between the customer and the Tasker, with our help.
Timing and review
We normally reply within 2 working days and aim to decide within 7 working days after receiving what we need. If you disagree or information was missed, ask for a review within 14 days at contact@taskply.com. You can also go to the courts, the Consumer Affairs Authority or another authority at any time.
Serious matters
For crimes, injuries or emergencies, contact the police (119) or ambulance (1990) first, then tell us.
Ratings and reviews policy
Who can review
Only the customer and the Tasker on a completed task can review each other. Each person can leave one rating from 1 to 5 stars and a comment for each task. Reviews cannot be edited after posting, so please check yours first.
What a review must be
Honest, about that task, and based on what really happened. Reviews appear on the person’s public profile, so do not include phone numbers, addresses or other private details.
What is not allowed
Offering money or rewards for a review, demanding a good review, threatening a bad review to get free work, reviewing yourself using another account, and bad language or discrimination.
If a review breaks these rules
Report the user from their profile and explain which review is the problem. Staff may remove a review that breaks these rules and may act on the account. We do not remove a review just because it is negative.
Community guidelines
Be respectful
Be polite and fair in tasks, questions, messages and reviews. No harassment, threats, hate speech or discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, caste, gender, disability or any other ground.
Be honest
Describe tasks and skills truthfully. Use your real name and photo. Do not create fake accounts, reviews or offers.
Keep it on TaskPly
Agree the work and price in the app so there is a record if anything goes wrong.
Allowed tasks only
No illegal, dangerous or adult tasks, no weapons, drugs or stolen goods, and nothing that needs a licence the Tasker does not hold.
Protect privacy
Do not share other people’s phone numbers, addresses or photos without permission, and never ask for one-time codes or passwords.
Reviews
Reviews must be about the task and true. Do not offer or demand rewards for reviews.
Harassment and bullying
Do not harass, bully, threaten, stalk, shame or repeatedly contact anyone who has asked you to stop. This covers tasks, offers, messages, reviews, phone calls and meetings in person, and it applies to customers, Taskers and TaskPly staff.
Sexual harassment and sexual abuse
TaskPly does not accept sexual harassment or sexual abuse of any kind. This includes unwanted sexual comments, messages, images or touching, and asking for sexual favours in return for work, payment or a good review. Any sexual content or behaviour involving a child is a serious crime. We may close the account immediately and report it to the police. If you are in danger, leave and call the police on 119. You can also call the women’s helpline on 1938 or child protection on 1929.
Bad language and abusive words
Do not use swear words, insults, abusive names or offensive language in any language, including in tasks, messages, voice notes, reviews and support chats. This includes messages to TaskPly staff and the AI assistant. We may remove the content and warn, restrict or close the account.
Reporting and enforcement
Report a task, message or person from the app. Staff review reports and may remove content, put accounts on hold, suspend or block them.
Fake accounts and fraud prevention
One real account
Each person may hold one account, with their own name and their own Sri Lankan mobile number, confirmed by a one-time SMS code. Do not create accounts for others, or use a false name or someone else’s number.
What counts as fraud
Forged or borrowed documents, fake tasks, offers or reviews, pretending to be TaskPly staff or another person, asking for money outside what was agreed, and taking someone’s one-time code or account.
How we check
Staff review Tasker documents by hand before a Tasker can make offers. Staff also review reports from members and may ask for more documents. A verified badge shows this review was done, but it is not a guarantee.
Protect yourself
Never share one-time codes. TaskPly staff will never ask for them. Be careful with anyone asking you to pay before the work starts, to move outside the app, or to send NIC or bank details in chat. Report it from the app.
What we do about it
Staff may remove content, hold, suspend or block accounts, and keep records as evidence. We may report suspected crimes to the police and share information with authorities where the law requires it. You can appeal at contact@taskply.com.
Health and safety policy
Before the task
Check the Tasker’s verified badge, ratings and reviews. Customers should describe hazards such as electricity, heights, chemicals or animals. Taskers should only accept work they are trained and equipped for.
During the task
Use proper tools and protective equipment. Follow safety rules for electrical, gas, height and construction work, and stop if it becomes unsafe. Professional work needs a valid licence or registration.
Personal safety
Meet in safe places where possible, tell someone where you are, and never share one-time codes or bank details. Leave if you feel unsafe.
Health
Do not work or host a task when you are ill with something contagious. Respect each other’s health needs.
Children and vulnerable people
Tasks involving children or vulnerable adults need extra care and supervision by a responsible adult. Never leave them alone with someone you do not know.
Customer responsibilities
Give the Tasker safe access to the work area. Before work starts, point out water, gas and electrical lines, weak floors or roofs, damp areas, chemicals and animals. Keep children and pets away from the work area, and make sure the Tasker has light, ventilation and access to drinking water.
Tasker responsibilities
Bring tools that are in good condition and check them before use. Wear suitable protective equipment such as gloves, closed shoes, eye protection, a mask or a helmet. Do not work while tired or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Do not take on work beyond your training, and ask for a second person when a job is not safe to do alone.
Personal protective equipment (PPE)
Use PPE wherever the work calls for it, and check it is in good condition first. Examples: safety helmet and safety boots on construction sites; a harness for work at height; insulated gloves for electrical work; a welding helmet, leather gloves and fire-resistant clothing for welding, with a fire extinguisher nearby; goggles and ear protection for cutting and grinding; a suitable mask and gloves for dust, paint and chemicals; a reflective vest near traffic. Taskers normally bring their own PPE, and the customer and Tasker should agree this before work starts. Do not begin work that needs PPE without it.
Electrical and gas work
Only trained and qualified people should do this work. Switch off the power at the main switch and test before touching any wire. Never work on wet surfaces or with damaged cables. Close the gas cylinder valve before working on gas lines. If you smell gas, do not use flames or switches, open the windows and leave the area.
Heights, roofs and construction
Use a stable ladder or scaffold on firm ground, with someone holding the ladder where possible. Use a safety harness for high work, and stay away from power lines. Do not walk on fragile roof sheets. Wear a helmet and strong footwear on construction sites, and keep the public away from the work area.
Chemicals, pest control and cleaning
Read the label before use. Never mix cleaning chemicals, and keep them in their original containers, out of reach of children. Wear gloves and a mask, and keep the room ventilated. Pesticides should be handled only by people trained to use them, and customers should be told when it is safe to return.
Lifting, moving and vehicles
Lift with your legs and keep your back straight. Ask for help with heavy items and use a trolley where possible. Drivers need a valid licence and insurance, and must follow the road rules. Secure loads properly, and do not use a phone while driving.
Weather and outdoor work
Stop outdoor and roof work during lightning, heavy rain, strong winds or flooding, and follow warnings from the Disaster Management Centre. In hot weather take regular breaks, drink water and use shade. Take care near drains, wells, tall trees and slopes that may be unstable after rain.
Hygiene and food
Wash your hands before and after work, and clean up waste, sharp objects and spills when you finish. Anyone preparing or serving food must keep it clean, covered and at a safe temperature, and must tell customers about common allergens when asked.
Harassment and abuse
Violence, threats, sexual harassment, sexual abuse, abusive language, discrimination and other abuse are never accepted. Leave immediately if you feel threatened, contact the police if needed, and report it to TaskPly. We may suspend or close the account of anyone involved, and may share information with the authorities where the law requires it.
The right to stop work
Anyone may refuse or stop a task that seems unsafe, without a bad review or penalty for doing so in good faith. Explain the concern calmly, make the area safe, and agree the next step in the TaskPly chat. Do not restart until the risk has been dealt with.
Accidents and emergencies
Emergency numbers in Sri Lanka: police 119, Suwa Seriya ambulance 1990, fire and rescue 110, Disaster Management Centre 117, child protection 1929, women’s helpline 1938. Get medical help first and make the area safe. Then record what happened, with the time, place and photos, and report any accident, injury or safety concern to TaskPly through Chat for help as soon as you can. TaskPly does not provide emergency services, and does not insure tasks unless the app clearly says so, so please check your own insurance.
Delivery and transport rules
What must never be delivered or carried
Illegal drugs; weapons, ammunition and explosives; stolen, smuggled or counterfeit goods; illegally made alcohol; protected wildlife, timber or antiquities taken illegally; anything for a crime or for hurting someone; and anything else the law of Sri Lanka does not allow. People must never be moved against their will. Dangerous goods such as fuel, gas and chemicals may be carried only where the law allows and with the permits and safe equipment they need.
Customer responsibilities
Tell the Tasker truthfully what the item is, its size and weight, and where it comes from and is going. You must have the right to send it. Pack it safely and do not hide anything inside it. You are responsible for what you send, and for any permit or licence it needs.
Tasker responsibilities
Carry only what was agreed. You may ask what is inside and ask to see it before accepting, and you may refuse anything you are not comfortable with, without penalty. Do not carry a sealed package from someone who will not say what is in it. Drivers need a valid licence, insurance and any permit the load needs, and must not overload a vehicle.
If you think something is illegal
Stop. Do not accept, open, move or deliver it, and do not confront anyone if it feels unsafe. Move to a safe place and call the police on 119. Then tell TaskPly straight away: use Report on the task or user, or Chat for help, or email contact@taskply.com. Tell us what you saw, when and where. Reporting honestly will not count against you, even if it turns out to be nothing.
What TaskPly does
Staff review every report and may remove the task, stop the booking and hold, suspend or block the accounts involved. We keep the records and may give information to the police or other authorities where the law requires it. TaskPly does not carry or inspect goods. The customer and the Tasker are each responsible under the law for what they send and carry.
